Technical Analysis: Criticisms
Murphy (1999) informs us that technical analysis relies on the following three premises:
1. Market action discounts everything.
2. Prices move in trends.
3. History repeats itself.
So why doesn't technical analysis discount itself?
A pseudo-science. Technical analysis naturally lends itself to a data-driven approach; instead the practitioner's define and use it according to their beliefs.
